River Roost Brewery

When in Vermont and craving a cold brew, you must visit the River Roost Brewery. The River Roost Brewery serves beer worth finding – the Vermont Brewer’s Association swears by it. Here, you find a range of hop-forward aromatic and full-flavored beers brewed in 10BBL batches.

Former brewer and quality technician, Mark Babson, established the River Roost Brewery in White River Junction, Vermont, in 2016. You can still find him keeping busy at the brewhouse from time to time.

Sampling

Sampling and growler filling are available onsite from River Roost Brewery’s tasting/retail room. You may sample a rotating selection in 32oz and 64oz refillable growlers. If you’re carrying a clean growler, River Roast Brewery will be more than happy to fill it for you. You may even have your fill of beer in an outside-branded growler.

Only one larger size growler cap is stocked, and 750ml growlers are filled for the price of a 32oz equivalent. River Roost Brewery is open for tasting and growler fills on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. An extensive variety of 72 beers is sold here, the majority of which are IPAs.

You will find the following kinds of beer on tap at the River Roost Brewery, Vermont, currently –

  • Doubtful Guest: IPA, 6.8% ABV
  • Big Smooth: Heavily Hopped Double IPA, 8.2% ABV
  • Mas Verde: IPA, 6.7%
  • Glimpse: Double IPA, 7.8%

These beers are also available in bottled and canned form.

Canned and Bottled Beer Available

The following kinds of beer are sold in canned and bottled varieties at the River Roost Brewery, besides the ones already listed above:

  • Unfallen: Imperial Stout with Guajillo Chillies and Ancho, Cacao Nibs, Cinnamon, and Habaneros, 10.8% ABV.
  • Mo’ Rilla: IPA, 6.7% ABV.
  • Rhythm of the Night: Batch 5 of Blended Imperial Stout, which has been aged in Brandy and Rye Whiskey barrels. Available in 375ml variants. ABV unknown.

However, the place means serious business when it comes to beer sampling, and you will encounter no seating space here to lounge about. But with the delicious range of beers on offer, who’s complaining?

The brewery offers a calm and laidback atmosphere for beer tasting throughout the day. The busiest it ever gets is around the afternoon. You will be waited on by friendly servers up for a chat anytime.

You can judge the popularity River Roost Brewery has gained over these last few years by the number of patrons coming in to have their growlers filled. Come here if you want to pick up a few cans of well recommended crafted hops or experience a no-frills experience of sampling some delicious beer.
